Replace Login/Logout Scripts with ClientSync
ClientSync is less demanding and more reliable than Notes login and logout scripts.
Login and logout scripts can degrade performance and spread corrupt files
To facilitate the backup and recovery, user roaming, or administrative control of Notes user files, some organizations have developed their own login and logout scripts. These scripts backup and restore the Notes user files to and from the network.
Unfortunately, this practice can cause unwanted side effects. Most don’t have any code that would prevent corrupted files from being transmitted. And the network performance can degrade significantly as scripts labor to send uncompressed files back and forth, particularly around the times of the day that multiple users are attempting to login or logout.
ClientSync reduces network demands and protects file integrity
ClientSync alleviates the problems associated with login and logout scripts. When a user logins or logouts of a workstation, a much smaller and compressed ZIP archive of that user’s files is transmitted rather than their full-size counterparts. Plus, ClientSync performs cyclic redundancy checking (CRC) to verify the integrity of the local and network archive files prior to overwriting the personal archive file.
