Overview
Accidental/intentional destruction of data, hardware failure or cyber attacks can happen at any time and you may be called upon to respond, investigate, document, handle, and escalate the analysis to a formal investigation. In this two day hands-on workshop, you'll;

  • Learn when investigations are appropriate or warranted

  • Learn how and when to recover lost or deleted information

  • Learn how to examine the operation system artifacts that connect the user to the actions taken on the computer

  • Learn how to collect, handle and preserve evidence

The workshop will include hands-on investigative scenarios and attendees will be provided with the training and tools to locate and properly examine important user and operatiing system sources of information. This training will highlight the role of the system administrator or security practitioner in the investigation and possible legal action involving cyber evidence.

About the Instrucor:
Len Drinkard is an adjunct faculty member in information technology at Stark State College of Technology and is retired from a 35-year career with the Federal Government, the last 20 years as a criminal investigator. Len served as the lead computer crimes investigator for the US Department of Labor, Office of Labor-Management Standards. He currently teaches a wide range of computer forensic courses at the Ohio Peace Offices Training Academy. He has also served as a guest instructor in the Train the Trainer program for the National Center for Forensic Science in Orlando Florida.


Len is a founding officer of the Ohio High Technology Crimes Investigation Organization and currently serves as 2 nd Vice President. Together with an Assistant United States Attorney, he founded the US Attorney's Agency Resources Team (UART), which provides computer forensic training and support for law enforcement agencies. He has taught in dozens of computer crimes investigation programs for city, state, county and federal agencies as well as in private sector programs. He has been published in the "FBI Magazine," "The International Journal of Forensic Computing," by the Association of Financial Crimes Investigators, and was a contributor to "Cleveland Scene" Magazine.
